When I met Simone many years ago he was playing in progressive hard rock Dream Theater cover band. So, imagine my surprise when recently I looked him up and discovered his new record was taking the tones of New Age-ish music. Furthermore, he didn't seem to be an isolated random event. When exploring his latest releases in Spotify and other platforms, you can see Simone evolving from a more traditional elettronica to something more lounge/spa, to Seven Chakras, the album that officially signed his entry into the world of healing sound. One year after, Simone is releasing his second album of the genre. I'm personally a big fan of Seven Chakras, so I'm very excited to hear all about the upcoming Across the Universe. I interviewed the music artist in time for the album release on March 3.

Simone's bio screams music all over the places. He started his music induction at age 5 in school, then played and experimented with live music in all genres from pop to metal in the Turin area, until recently he decided he would take the next step in his career and took up Music Production at Berklee's. After focusing for a while on the production of various elettronica and pop albums, but his focus nowadays seems to be aimed at more therapeutic-specific frequencies such as those of binaural beats and isochronic tones.

DSE: How do you define your type of music?

Simone: I think something like Sound Healing. I compose music that contains isochronic tones and binaural beats which are know to be calming and in some cases therapeutic.

DSE: What attracted you to this kind of music?

Simone: Being able to make music that make people feel good is powerful and rewarding. It's good to know that your music has a positive impact on the listener. As an example, in Seven Chakras I wanted the listener to feel the benefits in both body and mind, so I worked on those precise frequencies.

DSE: Yes, I confirm that you have succeeded in that. I listened to it while taking a hot bath and I must say that made the rest of the evening a great sensorial experience, to explain it in a few words.  Talk to me more about Seven Chakras.

Simone:  The work was inspired by Steven Halpern's book "Sound Health: the music and sound that makes us whole". In each song I used each of the corresponding seven chakra's note as the background which they go from C (DO) to B (SI), and then I composed a pleasant melody on top that fit each chakra's energy point.

DSE: Tell me about your upcoming new album "Across the Universe".

Simone: For this album I researched various scientific papers and found that each planet seems to be associated to two different frequencies by scientists: one for its rotation and one for it's orbit. Because the moon doesn't have any rotation, and because I wanted to work on all planets, I decided to work on their orbit frequencies by building each piece around the note associated with that frequency. I composed each melody to mirror the astrological character of each planet while withholding their esoteric meaning. For example: for Mars used percussions and brasses to recall the animosity of the planet that astrologically belongs to the God of War. The final effect is a mesmerizing journey across the universe's frequencies; listeners experienced a floating sensation,  the one you would have in absence of gravity.

DSE: Where can we get "Across the Universe" ?

DSE: Random question. What’s food for you?

Simone: Food is satisfaction for the palate, but always with a knowledge on the effects that will impose to body and mind.

DSE: For me music is one type of Food too! Thank you Simone, I'm really looking forward to listen to your new album. You can find Simone on his Facebook page.
