On February 10th, at Vani's book release, I was ready to meet and listen to a woman whose recent claims about the food industry put her at the top ranking position at Amazon bookstore and newspaper healthy sections across the nation.
It was not hard to spot Vani in her bright but tasteful yellow dress, while dancing around the pre-press conference floor with her surprised and humble smile. I stood there for a while to observe the moment that she created. You could tell she was not used to that kind of attention.
The organization of the event was flawless, managed by both ABC Carpet & Home store and The Food Babe team. The banquet was setup with a selection of raw vegetables and some handmade white bean spread, and completed with organic wine (Vani's favorite) along with healthy conscious chocolate.
Her guests were the first ones to speak, and all of them praised this woman's courage and initiative for the sake of the nation's health. When she finally came on stage with the night's moderator, none of us were disappointed by what she had to say. A bit shy at first, she reminded me that The Food Babe is an ordinary American woman, representing the voice of a million moms who are tired of getting sick of our food.
The Food babe has been recently accused to be a fear monger, a term used by her opponents and skeptics to throw people's perspectives off. She may not be a scientist either, and nor she is a doctor.
To all skeptics I say, you don't have to be a doctor, a scientist, or a researcher to learn what Vani, myself, and all others that have learned just by listening to our own body and mind: the chemicals in our mass-produced food chains are killing us, and this is the reality. A fear, is imaginary. This is happening across America every day.
Vani, aka The Food Babe, is about inspiring and changing for the better. And so, America is changing thanks to heroes like her and similar people who that fight for a better world.
