As a modern society, we get coerced every day by all sort of messaging to eat this or avoid that, to the point that it gets to the level of psychological violence and brainwashing; this will keep you slim, that one reduces your chances by 30% to get cancer, the label says it's 100% Natural, organic, it's good for you! Eat it! Drink it!
Recently, while listening to Josh Rosenthal speaking during a conference at a IIN Live Conference, I remember agreeing with myself that things are much easier that we tend generally to believe, much more straightforward than the media and the food industry and their lobbyists want us to feel about.
We all want to do the right thing. Who wants to get cancer, diabetes or become obese? I don't see many of you raising their hands on this point. Because of something called bio-individuality, our bodies don't seem to react the same way when consume food, whatever form of food it might be. This might make raise some eyebrows among you reading this, but do stick with me a little while longer while we plan to publish more blogs on this topic, and hang on to your seats very tight.
I do admit, that things get more and more complicated as you add more elements such as a busy lifestyle, your financial budget, the cultural background, your family genes, and even the blood type you carry in your veins.
Growing up in Italy, eating something bad meant a bad stomachache or a food poisoning when it was really bad. Avoiding that specific restaurant or buying food from that specific street vendor was the solution. I remember my family and friends making choices based on how food made us feel after we ate it; a consequence, we would then adapt our choices as a consumer.
Nowadays the matter is different. We have to deal with a surge of cheap chemical-refined products, hormone-injected meats, and highly toxic fruits and vegetables, that past generations in our families didn't have to worry about. Body inflammation, diabetes, obesity, cancer, new forms and conditions that have taken a whole new dimension in today diseases statistics. We are becoming statistics.
Every once in a while we do need to take a step back in our lives, and work on some house cleaning to figure out how to improve things.
"Don't Stop Eating" is a provocation to keep searching for the perfect food that the universe has intended for you to absorb, and that makes you the unique special human being that you are supposed to be. We obviously don't have to stop eating to feel safe and feel good about our selves. We just need to make the right choices for ourselves and our community. Enjoy!
